"Say Whaaat!" was the first exhibit in the Washington DC area that featured custom artwork on toys for the sake of charity. This event was also the launch of "The Mason Jar" an entity that organizes projects in which creativity can be used for a charitable purpose. "The slogan for the Mason Jar is: Consciousness & Caring through creativity, an ideal which I plan to pursue my entire life." Says artist Daniel Barojas of Rope5 imaging and also curator of the custom toy event. The "Say Whaaat!" event invited all types of artists & levels of experience (working with vinyl toys) to share their creative talents to customize toys donated by sponsors and then auction the custom works on eBay in order to accumulate money for charity. With 100% of proceeds going to charity, the show raised over $2000.00 for "The Capital Area Food Bank" which will be able to produce around 5000 meals for the needy. Daniel expresses his appreciation to Carlo of Kickballers , Shane of ArtWhino, and everyone else who participated in this positive project and ideal.
Miscreation Toys would like to thank Daniel for taking on such a rare and generous endeavor and pulling together a line-up of great artists to create such an amazing charitable event. You can catch up with Daniel on his blog, or see all the photos from the event on Flickr!
